Sixth Form @ Monkseaton
The respect and tolerance that permeate the main school are further strengthened in the sixth form as students are respectful, tolerant and, importantly, act as positive role models to the younger pupils in the school.
The vast majority of our year 11 students opt to stay with us for their Post-16 Education, and a large number of students join us in year 12 from other schools – and it is easy to see why!
On our A Level courses there was an 100% pass rate with over 70% of grades at A Level being A*-Cs. Our performance on our vocational courses was also impressive in 2017, with the average grade being a Distinction+ – significantly exceeding the standard nationally.

What can you study?
You will find a range of qualifications and opportunities available at our Sixth Form, including A Level and BTEC courses. You can experience a variety of subjects, from Sociology to Business and Media to Further Maths, with a range of subject combinations available.
Sixth Form is not just about academic success, but about supporting young people to be the best that they can be. That is why, in addition to excellent teaching, students at Monkseaton High School Sixth Form can be assured of first class pastoral support and exciting extra-curricular opportunities.
As a result of these, 100 per cent of our leavers this year went on to the destinations of their choice. These destinations have ranged from studying Medicine at Queen Mary University in London to training in Primary Education, to winning football scholarships in the USA. Loving learning, excellent teaching, pastoral support and diversity of opportunity all combine to allow students to access the next steps of their choice, whatever those might be.
