We have had a week focusing on providing our students with some of the best careers education, information, advice and guidance on offer in the North East.

North East Women conference

Our Year 13 girls were invited to North East Women (NEW) conference hosted at Northumbria University and organised by Newcastle School for Girls who kindly extended us the invitation. The girls were treated to a line-up of women who have fought hard to make it in the predominantly male business world. Through a series of seminars and workshops, they offered hints and tips on how our students can become the next generation of female business leaders in the North East and beyond.

Skills North East 2019

The sight of 200 students boarding four coaches on Tuesday morning was definitely one to remember! Year 11, 12 and 13 all went to the Utilita Arena in Newcastle to attend Skills North East 2019, the North East’s largest careers, jobs, skills and apprenticeship event. It brings young people from the North East face-to- face with employers, training providers, colleges, universities and professional bodies. We hope that the opportunity has raised aspirations, motivated and inspired the next generation, who took part in hands-on demonstrations and activities. Employers at the event included: British Army, Cyber Discovery, Energi Coast, NHS, JTL, Northumbrian Water, Royal Navy and Royal Marines, Maritime UK, Specsavers, Ship Safe Training, and many more.

Respect Points

Students being awarded positive points through Class Charts continues to climb with over 7500 points awarded in the first three weeks. As things stand, our Year 9 top three have 43, 42 and 41 points respectively; in Year 10 our top three have 38, 37 and 35; and in Year 11, 30, 29 and 28. As the deadline for our first Friday afternoon celebration draws closer, students need to keep working hard to ensure they are in the running. We look forward to letting you know who the lucky winners are :)

If you would like more personalised information, why not download the Class Charts app which will allow you to see the points being awarded to your child? You can get your login details by emailing school:
