Dear Parent
Monkseaton goes to Malawi!
Monkseaton Web > Malawi

In September 2008 we launched a brand new initiative called being CREATIVE/taking ACTION/serving the COMMUNITY (CAS).  The programme is designed to involve all students in community work, local/national and international.  We have students involved in activities which range from beach combing, volunteering in care homes to young scout leaders.  The students keep a record of all the hours spent helping others on their own Wiki page where they also record anecdotes, diary entries and photographs.  The initiative has had a tremendous impact on the school.

One of our biggest ventures is to take a group of students to Malawi to take part in a specially designed support project in Medic Malawi Hospital and a nearby orphanage.  The idea behind this is to both support Medic Malawi and to raise the social conscience of our students.  The whole school is involved in fundraising and the students and staff have really taken the cause into their hearts.  We are working hard to raise the money but it is a costly venture.  It would help us tremendously if you could help us in any way.  Our target is £17.000, we would be grateful for anything you could assist us with.
