The case for Education Science- and the difference it could make for children and education- is made in this investigation of the problems in education and the way to find the solutions.  Making Minds is a book for parents, teachers and anyone interested in education that shows how science and technology are changing learning. Monkseaton High School and the Innovation Trust are already making the ideas in Making MInds a reality, as part of the Innovation Trust's aim to create, test and share new solutions to improve learning.

Making Minds demonstrates how new technologies and science will transform education for the better, from spaced learning to teenage body clocks (circadian rhythms).   These issues are discussed in Chapters 8 and  9.  The importance of new kinds of school buildings are discussed in Chapter 3, and the Exemplar Design for schools in Making Minds has actually been built at Monkseaton.

We are engaged in the process of creating the science of learning.  Already organisations around the world are making a contribution, from the US Institute of Education Sciences to the Innovation Trust itself.  Making Minds is an introduction to this fundamental shift in how we improve education.
