Spaced learning on BBC TV News

Spaced Learning is based on new discoveries in neuroscience.  In 2005, a team of researchers in the US led by Douglas Fields discovered how memories can be made.  In a groundbreaking article in Scientific American, Fields showed how a particular pattern of stimuli could make memories.  The key was having spaces- gaps- between stimuli.  Paul Kelley at Monkseaton saw the potential for education, and worked with Angela Bradley at the school and Terry Whatson at The Open University to create spaced learning.  See the early report by the BBC below, and other materials on the links to the left for more information.  There has also be a regional BBC TV news story: see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7397251.stm
