Spaced learning on BBC TV News
We have just produced a resource to help people take up spaced learning: go to http://www.spacedlearning.org.uk/dvd/
Spaced Learning is based on new discoveries in neuroscience. In 2005, a team of researchers in the US led by Douglas Fields discovered how memories can be made. In a groundbreaking article in Scientific American, Fields showed how a particular pattern of stimuli could make memories. The key was having spaces- gaps- between stimuli. Paul Kelley at Monkseaton saw the potential for education, and worked with Angela Bradley at the school and Terry Whatson at The Open University to create spaced learning.
